TWO-time governor of the defunct Bendel State, Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia, has said Edo Mass Movement, EMM, will support any governorship candidate that will sustain and improve on the development strides of Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
Dr. Ogbemudia, who yesterday, in Benin City, received a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Calsey Omon- Irabor, in his residence, said although the EMM was not a political party, the group would support only the best candidate that would ensure the continuous overall development of the state.
Speaking on the personality of Omon- Irabor, he said: “Omon-Irabor is a foremost legal practitioner and I have tremendous respect for his knowledge, the way he goes about his things and I believe he stands a good chance of picking the crown. Looking at him, and from all I have heard about him, he has above average intelligence, he is able to stand on his own and he would not have been a successful lawyer because a lawyer is one independent person that at all times, stands on his own.”
He advised Omon-Irabor to meet the governor of the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, to discuss his governorship ambition with him and seek for his support, noting, “It will be difficult for people like me to support anybody that the governor is opposed to.”
Ogbemudia also advised the governorship aspirant to meet and seek the support of the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, and go close to members of the National Executive of the party, saying that “the National Chairman of the party cannot tell anyone that he does not know who the governor of the state is going to be.”
The former governor told Omon-Irabor to go back to the drawing board there after and should be able to know the obstacles he would encounter and how to solve them.
