Cleric urges support for Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade

THE Anglican Archbishop of Calabar, Bishiop Tunde Adeleye, has called on Nigerians to support the anti-corruption crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari and his  up hill task of restoring the country to the path of peace and development

Bishop Adeleye, who spoke yesterday, in Calabar, Cross River State, lamented that every facet of life in Nigeria had been bastardised due to years of neglect. He said that in order to restore normalcy the President required the total support and prayers of Nigerians.
He said: “It is not his fault that things are the way they are. He needs our support and prayers and we in Anglican Church are praying for him to succeed. In Nigeria, corruption has made public office holders to launder public funds and live exorbitantly.”
According to him, Buhari’s fight against corruption is well intentioned and anyone who works against the anti-corruption fight is an enemy of the country.
“Anyone who opposes the government’s fight against corruption should be described as our enemy and does not mean well for the country. All those suspected to have been involved in corruption should be properly investigated through due process and nobody suspected to have embezzled or misappropriated public funds should be spared. There should be no tribalism, no nepotism because a situation where members of a particular political party are targeted leaving some others because of political leaning should not be allowed.”
