Senate President, Bukola Saraki has issued a response to reports that Nigerian lawmakers are set to receive a sum of N8.46bn as wardrobe allowance.
Saraki revealed, via Twitter on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, that the actual wardrobe allowance received by each Senator is N506,600.
He tweeted:
“Chairman of Revenue Mobilisation Allocation & fiscal Commission was in my office to clarify wardrobe allowance. Amount is N506,600 per Sen.”
“Fixing of remuneration of political office holders is sole responsibility of
Revenue Mobilisation Allocation & Fiscal Commission #OpenNass.”
“With the current challenges we are facing as a nation, RMFAC will be reviewing allowances to reflect the current economic trend. #Opennass”
“I have just being informed that RMFAC will be publishing details of allowances on their website #OpenNass."
