Sam Dede plans returning to Nollywood next year


Popular Nollywood actor, Sam Dede who has been missing on screen in recent times, has revealed plans to return to the industry next year, after the expiration of his tenure as the Director-General, Rivers State Tourism Development Agency.

Dede disclosed this, while in a recent chat with HVP, at Ijegba forest country home of Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka during the presentation of a dance drama ‘Kongi’s Harvest’ by Crown Troupe of Africa. The event was to commemorate Soyinka’s 81st birthday. He said, his appointment as the D-G of RSTDA in a way affected his acting career.

The veteran actor who expressed satisfaction having been given the opportunity by Rivers State Government to development tourism industry in the State, said that the job has been quite enriching, engaging and fulfilling. He noted that his heart roots for his passionate career which is theatre and film making.

According to Sam Dede, who is also a University lecturer and cultural expert, “I honourably accept the appointment as the Director General of Rivers State Tourism Development Agency (RSTDA) three years ago.  That was one reason I have been away from the movie industry. I have just one more year to finish my tenure as D-G of RSTDA and then, I will return to the movie industry, stage and school.”

RSTDA was set up three years ago by the former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi.
